Grunge Hill

I hope everyone had a lovely easter break. I did. I kind of lost track of time though. Felt like I needed to record some clothes and such wearings. Cold weather has made me happy so I've been wearing seattle grunge/london goth type outfits. As usual everything from op shops. Except my shoes.

Anyway, I wanted to mention the slutwalks that have been happening around the world, sparked from a cop in Toronto publicly stated that “One of the safety tips was for women not to dress like ‘sluts.’", the slutwalk started in Toronto and has now spread across America, and even a few in the UK and Australia. One hasn't been organised for Sydney yet and I really wish someone would. I would love to partake in one as I strongly believe in wearing whatever the fuck you want, and does not equal "asking for it". So yeah, anyone interested should visit slutwalktoronto.com to find out more information - visit Satellites  to find out where Walks have been announced. And anyone in who is good at organising, and can see nothing has been organised for where you are from [Sydney people - hint hint] should contact satellite@slutwalktoronto.com to let them know you would like to be affiliated with Slutwalk, etc, etc.

Big love,
Penny.

They're way existential.

Arguably the best movie ever. So much to love. Fashion + Jane Austen + 90's. I mean really, you can't go wrong. I am still in search for preppy matching coat and skirt.

"Det Store Mix" caught my interest because I have always loved platform sneakers - I blame the Spice Girls for this. The April issue features model Alana Zimmer photographed by Hasse Nielsen

Platform sneakers crept into the fashion circuit quite awhile back with Creepers [evidence: Nathan Jenden's 2007 Fall collection] but is now sprouting into a full fledged love affair with the ankle twisting beauties as seen with DSM and Prada's Spring 2011 collection. And also with Franky wearing creepers almost all the time in the 5th series of Skins.

Love them or hate them, looks like they're making a come back.

composure

Above is the beautiful work of aleksandra88  from Ukraine. Her work is extensive so it took me awhile to go through it all, these are my overall favourites. But please, do check the rest out for yourselves. Quite a lot of nude photography but I'm way too into fabric, the way it moves, drapes, the colours, etc to be a fan of no clothes.

One thing I love of Aleksandra is she isn't afraid to use certain props, themes that I feel most people would stay clear of because of the way they may be received by the public. She obviously loves breezes, and has a real eye for locations for photoshoots. Hope you enjoy her work as much as I do.

nocturnal mischief

As it gets colder my frame of mind changes slightly. Night time seems different; the colour more dense, but the air feels lighter. Sometimes I don't feel the cold. There is definitely an energy with the coolness and the howling winds.

I'm finding a ridiculous amount of options with outfits and styles, I'm sure I would find it a bit overwhelming if I didn't relish it so. I may need to alter some of my jackets though, they are just a tad too big and I am all for looking silly but it can make wearing bags a little difficult when the shoulder pads don't fit into the allotted space.

My room seems to be shrinking due to the mass of clothing increasing. Maybe its time to let go of some of it...

But all I want to do is play in the eerie nights air.
